Edgeworks is the full-service design, research, and production bureau housed in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts. At Edgeworks, we pioneer "edge of field practice"—cultivating new possibilities past the boundaries of traditional disciplines. We partner with university researchers, community organizations, and global companies to create effective solutions to wicked problems.

The Eisentrager-Howard Gallery, located in Richards Hall, is open to the public and hosts changing exhibitions that extend the studio and classroom. The gallery is named for Professor Emeriti of Art James Eisentrager and Dan Howard.

It is an organization that supports community-driven development programs worldwide through the design and implementation of environmentally sustainable, equitable, and economic engineering projects.
Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program

Engler exists to embolden people on the courageous pursuit of their purpose through the art and practice of entrepreneurship. The program equips its student with the skills, mindset and know-how to build and launch a successful enterprise that aligns with their passion and purpose. Students receive assistance in exploring entrepreneurship and then in growing their businesses, should they choose entrepreneurship as their path. Students from across UNL as well as entrepreneurs from the community are welcome.

ECAP empowers community members to lead the way in shaping their economic future. Prosperity isn’t instant; it’s a journey, and ECAP helps communities set action-based goals to get where they want to be.
Entrepreneurship Workshop for Middle and High School Students

In this workshop, students explore established businesses and identify the problem, solution, target market, competition, financial projects, and “the ask.” If the idea of building and organizing a business excites you, entrepreneurship might be an area to consider. We love incorporating that “startup” mindset in classrooms to stimulate a new interest in business.

Estate Planning Clinic
College of Law
Students, under faculty supervision, represent clients in estate planning and estate planning document drafting. They may also participate in a Rural Estate Planning Clinic, an off-site program where students work with senior citizens in out-state Nebraska in drafting their estate planning documents.

Nebraska Extension provides community education and expertise to Nebraska with 83 county offices serving all 93 counties throughout the state in the areas of livestock, crops, water, food, youth development, the environment, community development, and agriculture profitability.

Fabrication and Construction Team (FACT)
College of Architecture
FACT is a collaborative student designbuild studio at UNL that engages design, fabrication, and construction projects with cultural and non-profit clients. FACT’s primary mission is to provide educational opportunities for design students and partners who play a role in this mission. Students are hardworking and creative, but they are not yet professionals. The benefits to the student and the partner organization are mutual.
Farm to School Local Food Program

The Farm to School program connects kids with fresh, local food and healthy living in an engaging way. In the classroom, students learn about agriculture, nutrition, and the journey food takes from farm to table—including, in some cases, hands-on growing experiences. In the cafeteria, they get to taste the difference with meals made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, some of which they may have grown themselves. These hands-on experiences help children experience the benefits of eating fresh, local produce and make healthy eating a part of their everyday lives.
