Nebraska communities hold deep knowledge about their strengths, priorities, and aspirations. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln offers research, educational programs, data, expertise, and statewide relationships that can help communities advance those priorities.
UNL’s engagement ecosystem brings these assets together.
Rather than beginning every partnership with a new survey or listening session, the ecosystem helps UNL learn from what communities have already shared, understand the conditions shaping their work, identify relevant university resources, and build more coordinated and responsive partnerships.
The ecosystem brings together tools and resources from across UNL to accomplish the following goals:
Identify and Steward Community Information and Data
Community Assets Repository
As part of All Things Nebraska, the repository consists of community-created data about communities’ priorities. The tool allows for users to reveal patterns across the data — pinpointing shared priorities that are easily navigable by category, keyword or location.
Nebraska Map Room
As part of All Things Nebraska, the map room allows users to access over 30,000 data layers about their communities and easily share maps with others through powerful query tools, data export capabilities and annotations.
NebrASKa Voices
NebrASKa Voices is a panel made up of a random sample of Nebraskans managed by the Bureau of Sociological Research (BOSR) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Panel members are recruited to participate in future research studies and discuss their opinions or experiences as a Nebraska resident.
Nebraska Rural Poll
The longest-running poll of rural life in the United States, the Nebraska Rural Poll, is an annual survey conducted by Nebraska Extension and its community development division, Rural Prosperity Nebraska.
All Things Nebraska Report Gallery
As part of All Things Nebraska, the Report Gallery offers several reports with Nebraska data, including the County Health Rankings Report and the Nebraska Housing Report.
All Things Nebraska Tool Gallery
As part of All Things Nebraska, the Tool Gallery gives easy access to several data and mapping tools available to the public, including County Report Cards, the Thriving Index, and NebraskaMAP.

Virtual meetings bringing together community leaders and faculty and staff looking for community partners for student experiential learning projects and research opportunities.

An interactive site that directs you to the Extension professionals in your county and educational resources.

This searchable database from the Office of Research and Innovation allows faculty to explore programs and organziations they can partner with to enhance the societal impact of their work.
Extension Engagement Zone Coordinators
Engagement Zone Coordinators are key collaborative and strategic connectors between UNL and Nebraska communities. They work within Nebraska Extension, and they are committed to engaging with community partners, organizations, and individuals, looking for ways to connect them with the resources, research, and innovation of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
