Aphasia Community Partners

Our mission is to connect individuals with aphasia to individuals in the community to enhance social involvement and understanding of the strengths of individuals with aphasia. Ultimately, we hope this program builds lasting social relationships.
Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic provides services for individuals with speech, language, hearing and balance impairments. Clinic providers serve all ages and address a broad range of disorders.
Cognitive Strategy Instruction

Strategy instruction is one of the most effective ways of improving academic performance for children with learning difficulties. This site will show you how to do it, provide examples or strategies, and provide a forum to discuss your experiences and questions.
Hearing Aid Banks

HearU Nebraska provides hearing aids to children ages 0–18 with priority to newly identified children ages 0–3.
Lions Hearing Aid Bank provides refurbished monaural or binaural BTE hearing aids to individuals 19–64 years of age.
Sertoma Hearing Aid Bank provides one refurbished BTE hearing aid to individuals aged 65 or older. A second hearing aid can be purchased for $100.
Husker Athletics Husker Heros
Husker Athletics
This program partners with 12 nonprofit organizations that serve as members of the Organizations Networking for Everyone with Special Needs (O.N.E. Coalition). The program is Required for all 1st-year student-athletes as part of the 4-year tiered development program and as an introduction to the culture of service at Nebraska. The Program is designed for individuals with disabilities and their families to interact and play games with Husker Student Athletes. In 2022 the event hosted over 800 participants from all across Nebraska and saw a total of 122 Husker Student athletes attend to host sport related stations and interact with attendees.
Nebraska Athletics Red Carpet Experience
Husker Athletics
Nebraska Athletics created the Red Carpet Experience in the fall of 2021. The program's premise is that all youth and people with special needs across the state of Nebraska deserve the opportunity to attend a Husker competition despite their socioeconomic status. The program is designed to provide participants with a pregame experience, including the chance to interact with student-athlete volunteers and a free ticket to the game. Over 4,000 tickets have been purchased, donated, and used through the Red Carpet Experience by individuals and their families.
Nebraska Autism Spectrum Disorder Network

The Nebraska ASD Network is committed to providing up-to-date information and training based on current research about autism spectrum disorders. Each year trainings are scheduled throughout the state on high leverage practices. Regional Coordinators and Behavior Specialists also provide onsite school district training and consultation support.

Speak Out!

Nine out of 10 people with Parkinson's Disease are at risk of developing a weak voice that can lead to serious speech and swallowing issues. The Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic is proud to offer an effective program that combines education, individual speech therapy and group exercise called SPEAK OUT!® to help these individuals.
UNL-Tabitha Memory Workshop

This is a weekly class led by speech language pathologists and graduate speech language pathology students. The target audience is individuals who are concerned about, or merely want to learn more about memory and aging. Our purpose is to provide education about how to maintain memory and cognitive skills and develop memory strategies.
