Dare to Care
Dare to Care is a campus-wide competitive food drive. The goal of the drive is to collect as much non-perishable food as possible to donate to the Food Bank of Lincoln in order to provide meals for the Thanksgiving holiday season to those in need. Any group or person can register to compete including faculty and staff. Groups competing will be invited to the Chilli Cook-Off on November 11, 2016 from 5pm-7pm. Registration open from October 21st to November 4th. To register stop by the Center for Civic Engagement located in 222 Nebraska Union or click on the link to register http://engage.unl.edu/start-here-start-now-welcome. Groups will be collecting food from November 4th to November 11th. The drop-off date for the donations will be November 11th. 1. As a Group
Are YOU a member of the most caring group on campus? PROVE IT!
Who: Any and all groups-RSO's or make your own group!
Why: So those in need will have a Thanksgiving dinner.
When: Sign up by November 4th (see info below).
- Packet Pick-up by October 31st.
- Food Drop-off - November 11th at the Nebraska East Union
What's In It for YOU?
The satisfaction of knowing you made a difference and being recognized if your group collects the most food.
All you have to do is collect food. Regardless of how big or small your group is, just 3 cans of food per member makes a significant difference by helping the Food Bank of Lincoln provide meals for the Thanksgiving holiday season!
To Sign Your Group Up:
Contact service-learning staff located in the Center for Civic Engagement (222 Nebraska Union) at 472-6150, by email at email@example.com or go to the following link http://engage.unl.edu/start-here-start-now-welcome to register online. After you have signed up, we will put together a packet with everything you need. Pick the packet up at the Center for Civic Engagement (222 Nebraska Union) after October 31st.
Fun note: collection includes Halloween, consider planning to go Trick-or-Treating for canned food!
If you are not connected to a group, you can still help! There will be barrels located across City and East campuses as drop-off points from November 6th -11th. Here are the current barrel locations:
City Campus Locations:

- Henzlik Hall
- Old Father
East Campus Locations:
- Nebraska East Union
- Plant Sciences
Please note: groups do not receive points for dropping food in barrels. All group donations should be turned in together on Friday, November 11th in the Nebraska East Union.
